Behind every manager is someone under pressure.

But they always notice who shows up ready.
Make sure that person is you.
Today we are going to help leaders master this by using:

Scenario: Your manager gives vague instructions like “Make this better” or “Clean up the numbers,” and you’re unsure what success looks like.
Say this:
“I want to make sure I hit the mark. When you say ‘make this better,’ do you mean design, layout, or content? Can you show me an example of what good looks like to you?”
After getting clarity, send a quick follow-up summary of what you heard:
“Just to confirm, I’ll revise the layout, cut down the text by half, and align the tone with the last deck you liked. I’ll have a first draft to you by Thursday.”
Managers don’t always realize when they’re being unclear.
Asking for specifics and repeating back what you heard shows ownership and prevents rework.
Scenario: Your manager keeps piling on urgent tasks, but you’re already maxed out. You don’t want to seem lazy—or insubordinate.
Say this:
“I can absolutely take that on. To help me get it done well, would you prefer I pause the client deck or the hiring report?”
Create a visual priority tracker (a simple 3-item list in Slack or a color-coded note in your shared doc).
Send updates every few days so your manager sees where your focus is—and why.
Instead of saying “I’m overwhelmed,” you shift the decision back to them.
Now, they see the tradeoffs clearly and feel in control.
Scenario: You only talk to your manager when something breaks, and by then, tensions are already high.
Say this:
“I’ve noticed we usually end up talking when something’s gone sideways. I’d love to set a 15-minute check-in every Monday so you’re never surprised—and we can be more ahead of things.”
Use the check-in to quickly cover:
What’s going well
What you’re watching closely
One thing they should know or decide
This makes your manager feel informed and reduces the feeling that everything’s a fire drill.
Plus, you get more face time when things are calm—not just chaotic.
Scenario: You’re frustrated that your manager keeps canceling your 1-on-1s or gives half answers in meetings.
Say this:
“I’ve noticed your calendar looks slammed lately. Is there a way I can help make your week easier—maybe prep a summary before meetings or handle updates in writing?”
Start sending weekly quick briefs. Keep it short:
One win
One thing you’re working on
One thing they might want to weigh in on
Most employees assume their manager has all the answers and time.
When you show you understand their load and offer support, trust builds fast.
You don’t need a big team or a perfect website to start selling something helpful.
You just need one strong idea—and a clear way to talk about it.
Here’s how to use it in real life:
Problem: You made something useful (a planner, a workbook, a Notion board), but you’re not getting sales.
Stop trying to talk to everyone. Pick one type of person (like new freelancers or busy moms).
Rewrite your offer to clearly say what problem it solves for that group.
Post something today that shows the “before” and “after” transformation they’ll get.
Add one line in your caption that tells them exactly where to click or what to DM you.
People need to see themselves in the product. This helps them feel like it was made for them.
Problem: You’re overthinking. You’ve got too many tabs open.

📖Why Most Creators Stay Broke
If you’ve been creating but not earning, this one’s for you.
📖The Real Secret to Digital Products That Sell Fast
Already have an idea but want it to actually sell?
Step 1: Choose your moment
Think back to one moment this week when you felt unsure, overloaded, ignored, or like you were walking on eggshells around your manager.
Choose the one lesson from today’s scripts that would have helped in that moment. That’s your focus for the day.
Step 2: Set a reminder
Before the day starts, pick one cue that will remind you to act—after your first meeting, during lunch, or when you check email.
Set a calendar alert or write a sticky note: “Say something early today.”
Step 3: Send one small message
Choose one message to send that fits your focus:
Ask for clarity on a task
Share one short update
Point out one small win
Ask where they’d like you to shift your time
Offer to handle something to save them time
Keep it short. Keep it useful. One sentence is enough.
Step 4: Notice what changed
After you send the message, ask yourself:
Did I feel more clear?
Did it change the tone of the day?
Would I try that again tomorrow?
Step 5: End with one line
Before the day ends, write down one sentence:
“Here’s what helped today: ______.”
or “Next time I feel unsure, I’ll try: ______.”
AI Prompt: “Act as a professional workplace coach. Help me write a short, clear message to send to my manager based on the following details:
Situation I'm facing: [Insert your manager challenge, e.g., "I'm not sure what they really want on this project" or "They keep giving me new tasks but I’m already at capacity"]
What I want to happen today: [Insert desired outcome, e.g., "clarify the ask" or "let them decide what’s most urgent" or "make sure they know I’m making progress"]
Tone I want to use: [e.g., professional, helpful, relaxed, confident]
My writing style: [e.g., short and to the point, friendly but clear, slightly formal]
Write:
A message I can send by email or Slack that fits the situation
One extra line I could add if I want to sound more thoughtful or collaborative
One tip for how to follow up if they don’t respond
Keep the wording natural and easy to say out loud.”
Your manager might be stressed, distracted, or stretched too thin.
You don’t need to fix them—you need to think one step ahead.
When you lead with clarity, you help them do their job better too.
It’s not about control—it’s about making things work.
This kind of leadership doesn’t need a title. It needs a decision.
Until next time and with lots of love,
