How to Use These Skills in Real-Life
1. You’re Leading a Brainstorm That’s Going Nowhere
Scenario: You’re in a meeting and everyone’s quiet. No ideas are flowing.
Skill:
Ask Better Questions
Instead of saying:
“Anyone have any thoughts?”
Try saying:
“If we could only work on one part of this, which would matter most right now?”
Then ask:
“What’s something we haven’t tried because it feels too bold?”
These kinds of questions take the pressure off.
They focus the team and spark fresh thinking. Smart questions guide—not demand—creative responses.
2. You’re Overwhelmed by Constant Fire Drills
Scenario: You keep solving the same problems over and over—Slack chaos, lost docs, missed deadlines.
Skill:
Think in Systems
Step back and ask:
“Where’s the breakdown really happening?”
Build a simple system like:
A shared weekly priorities doc
A team folder with naming rules
A 15-minute daily sync to prevent things from slipping
Once you solve it once, set it up so you never have to solve it again.
3. You’re Writing Yet Another Report That No One Reads
Scenario: You send out updates or reports that are ignored or skimmed.
Skill:
Write Like You Talk
Instead of writing:
“In Q3, we experienced a 7.2% uptick in cross-functional collaboration initiatives…”
Write like this:
“Last quarter, we finally got teams to work together—and here’s what actually worked.”
Want your words to land? Pretend you’re explaining it to a friend on a walk.
That’s what people remember.
4. You’re Trying to Build Trust But Only Share Wins
Scenario: You’re leading a team and keep talking about what’s going well—but things feel disconnected.
Skill:
Share the Real Stuff
Try saying in your next update:
“We tried something that flopped last week. Here’s what didn’t work—and what we’re doing differently.”
Or, in a 1:1:
“It’s been a rough few days. I don’t have all the answers yet, but I wanted you to know I’m working through it.”
People don’t trust perfect. They trust real.

Most people don’t fail because their product is bad. They fail because they overthink the launch.
This staircase gives you 8 steps that actually work—but reading steps isn’t the same as using them. So here are 3 quick real-life examples of how to make this plan real:
1. You have no audience (yet)
Scenario: You’re a freelance designer with an idea for a Brand Style Guide.
Post 7 days of quick tips or behind-the-scenes content.
DM 10 past clients: “I’m making something new—want to preview it?”
Tweak your offer based on what they say back.
Don’t wait for a list. Start with a few real people and learn fast.
2. You’re stuck perfecting
Scenario: You’ve written half a guide for new managers but keep changing it.
Pick one clear promise: “Your first 30 days made simple.”
Set a deadline and launch a 1-week mini offer.
Use a bold headline, 3 quick benefits, and 1 link.
Clarity sells. Complexity stalls. Build fast, improve later.
3. You want to launch but hate the tech
Scenario: You’ve got a digital planner idea, but don’t know where to start.
Go to creatyl.com and pick a product template.
Build your launch page in 20 minutes.
Share your link and track what happens.
Stop waiting, start doing.

Here's how you can make it real today:
Step 1: Pick your skill
Think back to a moment this week that felt off—something stalled, unclear, or awkward.
Now look at the skills list and ask:
“Which skill would’ve helped?”
That’s your focus for today.
Step 2: Choose your moment
Decide when you’ll try something different today:
During a check-in
Before sending a message
While writing, planning, or presenting
Write this down:
“I’m using this skill today: ____________”
Step 3: Make one small move
Choose one small thing that reflects the skill.
Examples:
If you chose Ask Better Questions → Ask “What’s your thinking behind that?” instead of giving advice
If you chose Make Your Work Searchable → Add a clear title to your doc or file
If you chose Start Before You’re Ready → Share a draft or idea before it feels perfect
If you chose Work in Clear Sprints → Set a 45-minute timer to finish one chunk today
You’re not fixing everything. You’re testing one change.
Step 4: Notice what happens
Afterward, take 30 seconds to ask:
Did it feel easier, faster, or clearer?
Did someone respond differently?
Did it make the next step smoother?
Tiny shifts often lead to real results.
Step 5: Write one sentence before bed
Finish the day with one quick line:
“Here’s what worked today: ________.”
or
“Next time this comes up, I’ll try: ________.”
AI Prompt: “Act as a personal performance coach. Help me apply one of the 2025 workplace skills in a real situation today.
Skill I chose: [Insert skill from the list—e.g., “Ask Better Questions” or “Work in Clear Sprints”]
Work situation I’m facing: [Brief description—e.g., “Team meeting this afternoon,” or “Writing a proposal today”]
What I want to happen: [What success would look like—e.g., “Keep the meeting focused” or “Make the proposal easier to read”]
Give me:
One specific way to use this skill in the situation
A short script or action I can try
One way to know if it worked
A reminder or mindset tip to keep it simple
Speak directly. Use plain language. Make it clear and easy to follow.”

High performers aren’t born that way.
They build better habits, one choice at a time.
They say things out loud. They ask smarter questions.
They fix what slows others down.
These aren’t traits—you can practice them.
The only question is: which one will you choose next?
Until next time and with lots of love,
Justin
