Real-Life Fixes You Can Use This Week

1. Overwhelmed by Endless Meetings?

Scenario: You’re booked in back-to-back meetings with no real time to work.

  • Use the Eisenhower Matrix at the start of your week to ask: “Is this meeting truly important and urgent?”

    • If it's neither? Decline or ask for notes instead.

    • If it's just “nice to do”? Turn it into an async update (Slack, Loom, or email).

  • Block protected work hours using Time Blocking. Mark those blocks as “Busy – Deep Work” in your calendar so others don’t book over them.

  • Say this in your next team check-in:

    • “To stay focused and deliver better results, I’m time-blocking deep work hours. Let’s shift smaller updates async when possible. Happy to share recordings or notes.”

  • You get your time back without seeming unavailable or uncooperative.

2. Your To-Do List Never Ends

Scenario: You finish the day with more tasks than you started.

  • Instead of a long to-do list, use the 1-3-5 Method each morning:

    • 1 major task that moves the needle

    • 3 medium ones that support it

    • 5 quick wins (admin, replies, errands)

  • Use the 2-Minute Rule to knock out anything small immediately instead of stacking it.

  • At 3:45pm, pause and do this:

    • Review what’s left

    • Reschedule low-value tasks

    • Move critical ones to tomorrow’s 1-3-5 plan

  • Say this in your team Slack:

    • “I’ve started using a 1-3-5 task method daily — it’s helping me stay clear and finish what matters instead of just staying busy.”

  • Your brain gets clarity. Your team notices the momentum.

3. Your Manager Keeps Adding ‘One More Thing’

Scenario: You already have a full plate, but your boss drops another task in your lap.

  • Use the ABCDE Method in real-time:

    • Ask: “Is this an A (must-do) or a C (nice-to-do)?”

  • Frame your response with priorities:

    • “I’m currently focused on two A-level priorities. Would you like me to pause one of those to take this on, or schedule it next?”

  • Use this script:

    • “Thanks for the task. I want to make sure I deliver great results. I’m working on [X] and [Y] right now, which are top priority. Should I adjust those timelines or slot this after they’re done?”

  • You stop being reactive and start shaping your workload with clarity and accountability.

Ideas don’t build things.
Action does.

But most people get stuck trying to make it perfect, figure it all out, or wait for the right time.

This week’s graphic shows you how real doers think — and below are 3 quick ways to use it today.

1. The One-Message Builder

Scenario: You’ve been thinking about launching something — a template, course, or workbook — but you haven’t started.

  • Pick one idea. Write one sentence: “This helps [who] with [what].”

  • Then DM it to five people you trust and ask: “Would this be useful for someone like you?”

  • Listen to their reactions. Don’t pitch. Just learn.

  • This is how doers avoid guessing and get real input fast.

2. The Quiet Fixer

Scenario: You feel stuck juggling tasks, and your projects are always half-done.

  • Pick one tiny part of your idea and finish it — just the outline, the email copy, or the intro video.

  • Block 30 minutes, shut off tabs, and work only on that one piece.

  • When done, ask: “What’s the next tiny piece I could finish?”

  • This is how doers win: less chaos, more done.

3. The First Product Starter

Scenario: You’ve had an idea in your notes for weeks, but it never makes it past the draft stage.

  • Go to creatyl.com and create your free account.

  • Use the tools to write a one-line offer, then publish your first product link — even if it’s just version 1.

  • Don’t wait for version 10. Watch what people click and improve from there.

  • This is how real creators move from idea to income.

Here's how you can make it real today:

Step 1: Choose your time tension

  • Think back to one moment this week when time slipped through your fingers.

    • Maybe a task dragged on too long, your day got hijacked by distractions, or you just felt stuck.

  • Now scan the 15 Time Mastery methods.

  • Pick one method that feels like it could’ve helped you in that moment.

    • Pomodoro, Eat the Frog, 2-Minute Rule, etc.

  • That’s your method for today.

Step 2: Pick a time cue

  • Choose one time in your day to try this — maybe right after a team call, during your most chaotic hour, or before your first task.

  • Add a sticky note, calendar alert, or just a quiet reminder:

    • “Try my time shift.”

  • Keep it visible.

Step 3: Make one change on purpose

  • Do one small thing tied to the method you chose. Examples:

    • Pomodoro: Set a 25-minute timer and do one task without switching.

    • Eat the Frog: Start your day with the task you’ve been avoiding.

    • Kanban Board: Move one item across columns to reflect its true status.

    • ABCDE Method: Re-label today’s to-do list using A–E categories.

    • Time Blocking: Block one hour and name it clearly — “Emails Only” or “Deep Work.”

  • Whatever you choose, make it visible and intentional.

Step 4: Notice what shifted

  • Later in the day, ask yourself:

    • Did this help me protect or use my time better?

    • Did I feel more focused, less scattered, or less reactive?

    • Would I try this again?

  • Write it down or just pause and reflect.

Step 5: End with one line

  • Before the day ends, jot this down:

    • “The time method that worked today was: ____.”
      or

    • “Next time I feel rushed/scattered/busy, I’ll try: ____.”

AI Prompt: “Act as a personal time coach. Help me design a simple action plan to apply one time management method from this list today:
Pomodoro, Eisenhower Matrix, 3-3-3 Method, 2-Minute Rule, Eat the Frog, 80/20 Rule, Task Batching, Time Blocking, Kanban Board, Getting Things Done, Warren Buffett 5/25 Rule, ABCDE Method, MSCW Method, Pickle Jar Method, or 1-3-5 Method.

Details to know:

  • My current challenge with time: [describe briefly, e.g., "I get stuck multitasking and never finish my main task"]

  • The method I want to use today: [insert chosen method from list]

  • My type of work: [e.g., “remote manager,” “designer,” “freelancer,” “student”]

  • My main goal today: [e.g., “finish a report,” “plan the week,” “focus during calls”]

Provide:

  • A short step-by-step plan (in plain language) for using this method effectively today.

  • One sample schedule showing how to fit this into my day.

  • Three quick check-in questions I can ask myself during the day to stay on track.

  • A one-line summary I can repeat to remind myself of my focus (like a daily mantra).

Make the plan simple, realistic, and encouraging so I can actually use it today.”

A full calendar doesn’t mean the right things are getting done.

Time mastery isn’t about squeezing in more — it’s about removing what doesn’t matter.

Choosing what to ignore is just as powerful as choosing what to do.

The people who get the most done often do the least at once.

You get to decide how your time feels, not just how it looks.

Rest is part of time well spent — not the reward for it.

Until next time and with lots of love,

Justin
